Soulful Heaven ... the journey ends

The Soulful Heaven saga started in August of 2011. I was asked to produce a weekly mix of 60 minutes with the latest Soulful House. The mixes were broadcasted at an online radio station called Classifs4Life. Their musical focus was rare funk from the 80's but they wanted to try something else. The first broadcast of Soulful Heaven was on the 26th of August and was not immediately a success but after a few weeks more listeners tuned in to listen my mixes on the Friday evenings.

In the summer of 2013 the person behind Classice4Life made the announcement that the station was going to stop. From that point on another DJ (Rene) and myself (re)started a station called Funky Beat Radio. Due to personal circumstances it only lasted six months before we had to stop broadcasting. I still enjoyed making the mixes so I continued making them especially for the listeners on House-mixes and nowadays also on Mixcloud. Currently the mixes are aired on several radio stations on which I'm very proud of...

So why stop with Soulful Heaven? After 50 months of making a weekly mix I think it is time for something else. The first reason is (although no one forced me too) that I want to make the mixes in my own pace. The second reason is that I recently bought a Pioneer controller and I want play/mix more live than I did before. The third (and last) reason is that I personally enjoy a lot more music genres than only Soulful House.

So after producing 200 Soulful Heaven mixes with a total of 2499 tracks and over 246 hours of music I think it's time to go for a new step. Will I stop? Most certainly not. So I hope you keep on listening to whatever comes out in the future. At the moment I'm looking into several options but I will continue with making mixes.

Last but not least I want to thank everyone for their support over the last couple of years. Without your support it wouldn't be any fun at all.
